Product Description
Sodium propionate is used as a preservative in feed and food industry directly or in the forms of ammonium propionate, calcium and sodium propionates. It is used to manufacture various propionates which used in the production of pharmaceuticals, antifungal agents, agrochemicals, plastics, plasticizers, rubber chemicals, dyes, artificial flavors and perfumery synthetics. It is used also as a solvent and in nickel-electroplating solutions. Propionates (Calcium, Potassium, Sodium) are approved to use as preservatives in food and feed. They have effective antimicrobial activity. They also contribute to diet supplements. A preservative is an additive for foods, pharmaceuticals, personal care products, cosmetics and other industrial products to reduce spoilage that air, fungi, bacterial, or yeast can cause.
Storage/Stability
The liquid should be stored at 2~8°C in the dark. Deterioration of the liquid medium may be recognized by (1) precipitate or particulate matter throughout the solution, (2) cloudy appearance, (3) color change, and/or (4) pH change. Product label bears expiration date.
